Abstract

Objective: to show the actual SLAIP profile by data from 2000 to 2003 annual meetings (AM).

Methods/Results: to evaluate the 1) Relationship works presented/participants (W/Pr) = 0,92. 2) Number of members present at AM (%MP) = 24%. 3) Annual growth rate of members present at the AM (AGR) = -19%. The number of published works (PW) in relation to those presented in AM 1998 and 1999 was determined, resulting in 20%.

Conclusion: SLAIP is actually a forum for research meeting that shows 2 weaknesses: 1) Low assistance of members to AM with no contact between these people. 2) Small number of PW, limiting SLAIP regional influence. We propose to encourage regional collaborative studies to maintain permanent communication among the members of the society.
