Abstract
Introduction: The Lateral sinus thrombosis as a consequence of acute mastoiditis is infrequently seen in our practice, moreover, if we consider extensive injuries that affect others as the transverse sinus. It is clear that early diagnosis and appropriate therapy for acute otitis media is greatly related to this fact. Usually, this complication is found in septic patients with otologic symptoms and systemic repercussion. We observed isolated cases where clinical manifestations are rare and the diagnosis is made throughout mastoid surgery.
Case: We present a five years old girl with lateral and transverse sinus thrombosis, where diplopia (neurologic focal sign) was the only manifestation, without any other otologic signs. Medical therapy was used, achieving a satisfactory but slow outcome with no sequelae.
Discussion: We studied medical literature and compared it with our therapeutic decision.
