Abstract
Hydatid disease is a zoonosis which has a varying incidence in Chile according to the geographic location. The Atacama desert has features which make this disease uncommon and likewise presents with special features during childhood. We report the clinical evolution of a 6 year old schoolgirl with pulmonary hydatid disease. Commenting on the presentation, risk factors and treatment, based on a review of the literature and national experience.
