Abstract

Non surgical spontaneous pneumoperitoneum is a rarely seen condition in daily paedriatric practice. Its appearance implies a great diagnostic and therapeutical problem. This condition has been reported since the 1950s in adult patients, emphasizing the presence of pneumoperitoneum in the absence of any injury of the intra-abdominal organs. A 3 week old male newborn with this condition associated with an acute pneumonia is presented.
